John Von Der Au is Brother Johnson’s GGGGreat-Grandfather. Cpl Von Der Au served the Union from 1861-1865. Advanced through Kentucky and Tennessee with Shermans Army. John Von Der Au was wounded at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain GA, hospitalized and returned to service at Atlanta, GA. With the Army he Marched to the Sea and Savanna, then turned north in the Carolina campaigns to Bentonville, NC in 1865.
Brother Johnson attended Virginia Tech and graduated with degrees in Material Science and Engineering and is in Active Duty Service in the United State Army.
